Work At Home? Working AT ALL?

Are you on the right track?

There's a great lot of conversation around town about employment and unemployment. Around the table at the Senior Center the guys are fussing about the growing number of business closures and the need for assistance rising proportionately. The women in the grocery store gather in little groups to complain about skyrocketing food prices and how their fixed income is stretched. There is more traffic in and out of the Food Pantry and the social services office, too. It's apparent that more people are earning less money for more hours of labor; folks seem to be afraid to look for employment elsewhere for fear of having no job at all.

It's a lousy situation, especially considering that we really do get to design our own lives. You may not have received that memo yet. If not, I'm happy to deliver such great news.

So. If we get to design our lives, why would we see websites on vehicles that advertise the need for workers? Why would there be job openings? I don't get it.

I went to the website of one of these "WE NEED YOU" ads displayed on the window of a vehicle and found it telling. Seems that if you want to work with this particular company they won't allow you to use drugs. Gee, what a downer. That probably takes all the fun out of it for a certain segment of job seekers. Another thing I noticed is that their website was not especially user friendly and filling out an application was quite challenging and cumbersome. You have to wonder whether this is intentional on the part of management. SIDEBAR: Think Rod Blagojevich on Celebrity Apprentice. END SIDEBAR.

We also might want to consider that there are couples out there who are discussing their situation in conversations that go something like this: "I'm NOT leaving my family, no matter what. If you take THAT job, I'm not going to live THERE!" Changing jobs, moving, even finding work is stressful enough without the added tension of relationship struggles.

This is exactly why the work at home crowd is in the pink and operating in the black!

Those of us who DARED to sign up for an online coaching program and had the chutzpah to actually launch websites or blogs and follow through on the instructions patiently given to us for making money online are not subject to corporate winds of change and the worry of not having meaningful work to do. Work At Home? Freelancing?

Here is a typical winter scene in Anytown, Anywhere. Notice the cars? They are near the homes because the homeowners at working at home!

Are YOU working at home? Do YOU have the freedom to design your day around the kids' school activities or home schooling? Or must you commute to and from your workplace, missing out on family time?

The ideal situation would be to commute from your bedroom to your home office, via the kitchen to pick up a coffee. Dress codes would be non issues. From your own home based business you can comfortably earn a living while overseeing your family's every need.

Do you know what it would take to become a successful work at home entrepreneur? Do you know how to discover what talents and skills you might already possess that could serve you well as a freelance income earner?

There are many programs out there in cyberspace. Everyone wants to make that dream of theirs come true so there are those who would prey on others by offering the moon and not delivering much in the way of information or help.

Making Money Online: Key Words

In researching material for this post I came across a "making money online" blog that featured a video. That's not unusual, except that this video had nothing whatsoever to do with making money online.

What struck me about this was that this video and the accompanying post garnered 168 comments! WOW! That's a testament to Key Words and their power, particularly if you don't get all uppity and you relate to the people who come by your site.

The blogger in question is a family man, animal lover and seems to me to be a hard working marketer. He makes no claims to king size earnings with no effort; he assures you his strategies are not get-rich-quick plans.

There are a number of good recommendations on this guy's site. He points his visitors in the direction of various coaching programs and toots the horns of other successful marketers as shining examples of success.

This begs the question: What unique value do you offer to your blog visitors? How do you interact with them or do you interact at all? We are interested to know your story. You are welcome to leave your "resume" as a comment here.

Coaching Program: Every Day is Saturday?

Does your Inbox bulge every morning? Do you have so many incoming messages that your feel your eyes cross just by looking at the influx?

It can be overwhelming.

As 2010 arrived and everyone vowed to resolve this, that or the other thing I have remained steadfast in my determination to simplify, focus, and have fun.
It is not difficult for me to hit “DELETE” when I am greeted by an inbox full of messages promoting various projects.

Before I hit the button to dump another message, I noticed a headline that captured my attention:

“Warning: This Video May Offend You.”

I’m not easily offended. I am curious. So I clicked. What did I have to lose? I could watch a short video; no sweat.

Sam Crowley of Every Day is Saturday fame and fortune was the presenter. I’d heard of Sam, even though I have not met him yet. His video was simple, straightforward and uncluttered. He was casually attired and it seemed to me he spoke from his heart. His message resonated with me, for whatever reason.

I firmly believe that to succeed in Internet Marketing you are wise to be guided by someone who has experience and your best interest at heart. As a matter of fact, that’s one of the reasons this blog was created. It’s important for newbies to know what is available to them to maneuver their journey to success.

Even though Sam suspected I’d be offended, I was not. Those who may have mocked his enterprise as he began to climb the ladder of success may have found the message offensive but I was just favorably impressed. I was intrigued that his headline could capture my attention, his message could hold my interest, and I found it telling that Sam’s message resonated with me so deeply.

If you Google Sam Crowley, as I have, you’ll find he is no stranger to Internet Marketing. His story is greatly appealing. Sam has followed his passion and capitalized on it in very clever ways. Regular people can relate to what he has to offer.

I’m in no position to change horses; I’m in the middle of a stream. I’m thrilled with the coaching program that keeps my PayPal account looking healthy. But if you have not made a choice to follow a leader you admire, you would do well to take a look at what Sam is doing.

No one program is the end all and be all. If you find a coaching program that meets your needs, by all means, follow your heart and your passion and give it your all.

Ideally, you should have your own product to promote. If you are a total newbie, though, you might be more comfortable to begin by using affiliate site such as ClickBank.com or PayDotCom.com to begin. They make joining very easy and offer tutorials to help you through the initial process. As you grow your business you might like to work with ClickBankEngine.com .

Find affiliate products that complement your site. Do not promote products for weight loss on a pet grooming blog, as an example. People who opted in to your site do not expect recipes if you are showcasing and recommending woodworking tools.

Never, ever stoop to the level of hyping your products. Be honest. Remember, your own integrity is at stake. You don't want to trample your own reputation, after all. If you own the product and like it you can recommend it with no hesitation.

So far we have covered affiliate marketing topics by discussing preparation, goal setting and rewards; as well as your commitment. We have addressed the issues of how people might search for a solution to their problems and we touched on the importance of content.

Where content is concerned this point cannot be overemphasized: CONTENT IS KING, so DON'T BE AFRAID TO OVER DELIVER. I'll give you an example of over delivering from my own online experience.

As soon as I enrolled with my marketer of choice I was invited to a conference call. I had not done very much with conference calls, except to have 3 way conversations. You have no idea how impressed I was when that first call went on for THREE HOURS with the marketer himself, personally answering any question thrown at him! That is classic over delivery!

Conversely, I received an email invitation to attend a webinar. The marketer who sent it was a marketer I am familiar with. I could see that I had a time slot open for the presentation so I signed up. The dilemma I faced was that the marketer was so excited about his program and presentation that he had neglected to mention the subject of it! I had no earthly idea what topic would be covered. Still, I ventured forth. (Silly me.) That's when I learned that the time zone was different. It did not matter what the topic was; the presentation time had been incorrect on the invitation.

The latter is a prime example of UNDER delivering, not testing the message sent out, and disappointing your followers. Unlike the guy in the first example, t isn't likely the second marketer garnered any brownie points that particular day.

Also concerning content, I have a bit of bad news to deliver. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but here it is:

Most blogs fail.

Sad but true, some bloggers fall short when it comes to content. These folks who fail are nice people and all; they mean well. It's just that even well meaning bloggers tend to load up their blog pages with things that go 'blinky-blinky' which is highly distracting.

Bloggers often fail to post on a regular, ongoing basis; they often insert inappropriate material into their pages. For instance, they might plug their favorite funny video from YouTube on their site, even though there is no relevance to the product they are reviewing or the marketing message they are sending to their visitors.

When affiliate marketers send email campaigns, they are tempted to clutter other peoples' inboxes with irrelevant material or content that does not pertain to the interest of the receiver. For example, if you are a marketer dealing with the pet niche, you don't want to bombard pet owners with information about weight loss or skin care products.

Content is king in every aspect of marketing: blogs, email campaigns, sales pages, webinars-the whole ball of wax. If you pay close attention to the details, you will find yourself on the top of the affiliate marketing heap and your family will appreciate that you are a work at home income earner.

We have covered affiliate marketing by going over preparation, goal setting and rewards; as well as your commitment. We have addressed the issues of how people might search for a solution to their problems and we touched on the importance of content.

A website without traffic is like a day without sunshine. The World Wide Web is not like a field of dreams: Just because you built it, does not mean they will come. What will drive traffic to your door is:

1. Quality, consistent content

2. Good search engine optimization

The way to accomplish this is to make sure your site has top notch information on it. In addition to good quality content on your site and your blog, it is necessary to create interesting, compelling articles to the various article submission sites that make up the dot com world. Depending on your niche, these might include the following:

• http://www.searchwarp.com
• http://www.holistichealtharticles.com
• http://www.goarticles.com

You want to make yourself the marketer of choice. By offering appealing, inviting copy and videos that attract people you will find that people will want to meet you. They will learn to trust you-please make sure their trust is not misplaced-and they will want to do business with you. Please bear in mind that people do business with people they know, like and trust.

Written copy in articles and videos are not the only avenue open to you. You could also create e-books; reports; and email campaigns. There is powerful traffic generation in Press Releases, internet radio and radio offline opportunities. You can hold webinars, teleseminars, interviews can be audios, written or video taped.

There is no need to erect false barriers to your success by shying away from any or all of these methods. Do your due diligence; stand in your truth; enjoy the fruits of your labor.

To date, the topics we have covered concerning affiliate marketing have included preparation, goal setting and rewards, as well as commitment. Since it's the holiday season, we excuse you for not commenting...YET...grin.

When people are looking for solutions to their problems, they are likely to do an internet search. They will log onto Google and type in the subject they want to know about. These folks might be looking for help with their affiliate marketing; they could be in need of work at home ideas. Or they may just want to know the fastest way to earn money online. As an affiliate, you can help them by touting Other Peoples' Stuff, reviewing products and services offered by Other People. You can demonstrate how that Stuff will solve the visitors' problems.

Let's visit the subject of quality content. Providing consistent, quality content for your visitors is the magic key to your success. It is incumbent to present quality content consistently to article submission sites, in your blog posts; at every turn YOU MUST PROVIDE QUALITY CONTENT. It can be written, audio or video content but it must be first rate.

Oh, and did I mention that Content is King?

I realize this is redundant but even little children learn by rote and if it helps you to learn how important content is to your overall success, then by all means, I shall be redundant. Repeatedly.

Cogitate on how your content can be the best on the web. Think about your sentence structure, your grammar and spelling. Think long and hard about what products or services you represent that are designed to solve your visitors' problems. Are you submitting articles? Have you been putting video messages on your blog? Do you send meaningful messages to the people who took the time and trusted you enough to opt in for your information? Do you post to your blog on a routine basis?

Affiliate marketing is about selling other peoples' stuff. If you have been working in that arena, you understand full well that it's a little more complex than that.

In Part One we looked at preparation, goal setting-and rewards-commitment, and consistency. In Part Two we will begin with expectations.

When you sell other peoples' stuff you can expect that there will be no start-up costs. The person with the stuff-the product owner-should provide training for you, as well as ideas and strategies. But when it comes to supporting you in your efforts, kids, you are pretty much on your own.

This is where you can expect your preparation, goals, commitment and consistency to pay off for you. You can get around the lack of support and really diversify by coming up with a workable and profitable solution: Create your OWN product!

This is phenomenal because you KNOW you can depend on YOU!

YOU can provide the best product for the best affiliate program!
YOU can test, test, test (It's all part of the preparation)!
YOU know to do things correctly and YOU will take action to git er done!
YOU understand the importance of preparation!
YOU will benefit from diversifying so as to have models that are monetized!
YOU will reap the rewards by creating the solution you seek!

To accomplish this affiliate success you will need a website. Here are some considerations when it comes to websites:

Having a website for each affiliate product gives you and your products credibility.
Free websites will diminish your professionalism and credibility; in addition, you have fewer options when creating free websites.
Make sure your site looks professional, not cheezy or amateurish. Keep it clean and free from blinky-blinky or garish ad banners.
It will be critical to have Search Engine Optimization in place. Work with a professional to make the most of SEO.
If your website is cluttered and difficult to navigate, your visitors will click out and go to your competitors.
Content is King. If you have a lovely, inviting website but offer poor content you will lose credibility, profitability and hope.
Traffic is critical to the success of your affiliate website. Good, quality content on the site itself in addition to strategically placed articles and consistent, persistent addition of content will propel you to your long term goals and usher success into your life!

As an affiliate marketer you have certain expectations, as do the visitors who come to your affiliate website. Expect to solve other peoples' problems and everyone will be happy. You will become the trusted marketer of choice and your reputation will be stellar. Expect your bank account to be healthier, too!

Affiliate Marketing is one aspect of internet marketing. It's all about selling other peoples' stuff and it is a great idea-if it works well.

Is affiliate marketing working well for YOU? If so, you no doubt understand why. And we would be interested to have your comments on this page, if you'd be kind enough to chime in! If success has eluded you, are you interested to learn how to make it profitable and productive? Or, like so many others, will you throw your hands up and surrender?

People will wail, "It didn't work for me. I tried it but I gave up because I couldn't do it!"

Giving up is understandable but will not help you achieve profitability and it's not really necessary. Let's examine some of the elements of affiliate marketing and see if we can help you figure out what WILL work.

First and foremost, you must know that it is not the affiliate marketing that works; it is YOU.

If you know anything about real estate you have heard the expression "Location. Location. Location." Location is EVERYTHING in real estate. With internet marketing in general and affiliate marketing in particular the cry is: "Preparation. Preparation. Preparation.

Ben Franklin said "By failing to prepare, you prepare to fail."

People tend to want instant gratification so they think that by doing anything, even out of sequence, they will surely hit their mark. Think, "Ready. Aim. Fire." People who are unprepared are likely to fire first and fail to aim or be ready.

Would-be affiliate marketers would be wise to lay out long term goals with short term goals for every step that needs to be taken. Beyond that, there need to be rewards in place for the completion of both long term and short term goals.

SIDEBAR: Make the rewards fit the goals. For example, if you finish three things on your Task List, you get to do the Happy Dance and meet a friend at the coffee shop. When you earn the dollar amount you have set for yourself, you get to turn cartwheels in the yard and spend a day at the beach. Or you get to buy a new book dealing with your niche. I'm sure you get the idea. END SIDEBAR.

Here is a great idea from one of the Top Gurus in affiliate marketing:
He uses a white board to post his goals and his tasks. As each one is accomplished he erases it, does the Chicken Dance, and eats waffles at his local hangout. For the bigger goals, he eats Chinese. That's HIS thing; what is YOURS?

Don't get your knickers in a twist when you miss your mark. Reset your goal, tweak your priorities, keep at it and prepare like never before!

Commitment is a huge factor in the success of any endeavor. Internet marketing, affiliate marketing is no different in that way. If you are not committed to your preparation and learning and success, who will do it for you? Commitment cannot be outsourced nor can its importance be underestimated.

When you are committed, consistency will be a given. You cannot expect to post on your blog with your affiliate links and then wait a week or a month to re-post. Your lack of commitment and your lack of enthusiasm will be patently obvious to visitors of your site.

Internet marketing people understand the value and importance of creating and submitting articles in order to generate traffic to one's website. After all, what good comes to a home based business if no one visits their website?

A good part of any marketer's day is taken up with reading and commenting on other peoples' blogs and reading articles written with the express intent of generating traffic and buzz.

At the risk of sounding like a fussy spinster school marm I gently remind anyone who is spending precious time cranking out articles and blog posts to use the Spell Check feature on your computer!

It's really disconcerting to read copy that has gross spelling errors but even more to the point than misspelled words is that poor writing makes the writer seem far less credible and less professional than the expert he or she purports to be.

Surely your grade school teacher taught you how to use the dictionary. You are even likely to have access to a dictionary from your browser's toolbar. PLEASE USE IT.

You go through the effort to research and create articles; when submitting them, it only takes a moment to make sure there are no errors. Run a spell check on the article submission site before you publish your work. Your grade school teacher will not be present now to look over your shoulder and prevent your mistakes so it is your responsibility to make sure it could earn the grade of "A."

Many internet marketers are highly adept at text messaging; this is laudable. But in article writing, text messaging is not only inappropriate but inaccurate.

Article writing and article submission is a key ingredient to the success of any internet marketer who seeks to make money online. Do it well, do it correctly and do it with style. Your rewards will be great and you can know that you gave article marketing your best effort.

Veterans Day, 2009

This cheery basket of cookies and flags will be delivered to a nursing home, where a dozen veterans who have served our country will be honored today.

There are 486 flags standing tall and proud around our local courthouse square. The men and women who have served in our armed forces have come together this very day to celebrate one another in grand style. They shared breakfast and good camaraderie to begin their day. They had lunch, compliments of the local school. Some of the vets in our area were invited to share their stories with school children. Tonight, when the flags are put to bed, there will be a meal for those who helped with this monumental task.

If you are a veteran or are currently in the military I wish to thank you for your service.

Here's hoping YOU have the opportunity to find tangible ways to thank any veterans who might be in YOUR midst today.

Only in America can we have the freedoms we do and we are grateful for those who have defended those freedoms.

The Post Office and Banks are closed today. No business transacted there. We shall follow their lead and spare you any commercial message.

But it's not for the faint of heart. And no matter what claims you may have heard, it is NOT for the lazy. Anyone who has the gumption to take action and follow through can make something happen for himself!

Yes, my new best friend forever is a communications company in Pennsylvania!

Make Money Online: What is YOUR Question?

If you do, the chances are great that your project or enterprise raises questions from time to time. Where can you go to find answers?

Here are a few questions that might pop up:

Question #1: Can you re-purpose your articles by submitting them, with some changes to the copy, in different venues?

Answer: Yes. Here are a few examples of what can be done with articles: You can edit them for use as blog posts, original articles on different article submission sites and webinar presentations. So long as they meet the criteria of Web 2.0 sites, you can submit them to those, as well.

Question #2: Must I always write my own articles and blog posts? I am working a full time job while learning to make money online as a weekend project so I have no time to create articles or blog posts.

Answer: Certainly. There are websites you can visit to find people to help you. One of those is Odesk. You might ask people in your community to help you, too. Sometimes students are helpful in this regard; you may have family members with whom you can barter and get this accomplished.

Question #3: I'm shy about asking questions, for I don't want to appear foolish.

Your question might help someone else to learn from the answer, so it is really a disservice to others as well as yourself not to speak up! Article Marketing for Traffic Generation?

When Mary was in "kindergarten" class for internet marketing her very first homework assignment was to write articles. This first assignment was intended to generate an online 'traffic jam' by sending readers to Mary's website, where she could show off her Widgets, enticing people to buy them from her. Mary's internet coach meant not to overwhelm but to guide her as she made her way along a learning curve to a successful home based business career.

Alas, Mary saw article writing as time consuming. She insisted she felt inadequate; besides, she claimed she did not have the time to write every day. Mary could not recognize her own life experiences as having value, so she turned in an 'incomplete' and turned in few assignments. The result: Mary did not generate enough traffic to keep her in the 'make money online' game for long.

Someone said Mary recently applied for public assistance and moved into low income housing.

IF ONLY, Mary could have generated one or two articles a day every day except Sunday perhaps she could have earned a comfortable living.

With a relaunch program looming, Jeff Wellman and Dixie Brown of the Rapid Cash Marketing Team recently hosted a MeetUp in Iowa for a group of their students.

Internet marketing coaching programs can be found all over the internet. I defy anyone, however, to find a program or a coach with the integrity and heart that Jeff and Dixie displayed in the event they held for us.

These people have the skills and patience to make sure we students understand the material we have been given in our lessons to become highly successful in our own internet marketing pursuits.

The range of applications at our gathering was not only mind boggling, but interesting. Everyone learned from one another and we all feel better equipped now to pursue our blogs, our websites, our marketing efforts with new zeal and a new appreciation for what we are experiencing.

It was so much fun to introduce the man from Lay Off Your Boss to a fresh faced kid who was clearly in awe of Jeff Wellman. It was heartening to enter an eatery and see our very own Dixie Brown greeted with hugs from the patrons there. They all presumed we were Dixie's family and Dixie assured everybody they would be correct about that! It was difficult when this precious event came to a close and we had to say our "so longs" to one another.

There are live events happening all over the country from time to time. If you can go to a live event you will experience the magic that happens when marketers come together to look at new ideas, different strategies and meet the people who earn their livelihood online every day.

Whether you are marketing articles, blogging, or selling widgets you can recharge your internet batteries and breathe new life into your home based business, your affiliate marketing sources and learn about your own product creation and launch.

Do They GET You With the Headline?

If your Inbox is anything like mine, you get oodles of emails every little bit.

Depending who sends them, I read the important looking ones and move on. The "delete" button is my friend.

This headline caught my attention: "Internet Marketing for Smart People" and opened it because A/I like most everything that comes down the pike from this blog and B/They had a really great post about headlines recently. I was "GOT."

Turns out this blogger, Sonia Simone, thinks I am smart simply because I read her blog! She said so directly:

"There’s no delicate way to put this. If you’re a regular Copyblogger reader, you’re just . . . well . . . smarter than most people looking to market online."

Internet Marketing: What 3 Things Are Critical to Your Success?

There are a number of key factors that are instrumental to any internet marketer's success. You could make a list that would be at least as long as a kid's wish list for Santa Claus.

For now let's just look at these: 3 Things Critical to Your Success:

Find YOUR niche. Does the niche you represent REPRESENT YOU? Does your niche reflect your passion, your personality, your goals for your life?
Be persistent. You won't find glory in working an hour a week. It's not fair to blog once every three months and be surprised there's been no impact.
Take action. Research everything you must, decide what you want to do and what you'd like the outcome to be. Then act on your decision every day, tweaking things where you need to make changes and do NOT stop until your goal has been reached.

I want to tell you about a bright young woman whose cheery voice I hear from time to time on conference calls. She is charming, savvy and she KNOWS these top 3 faves because she performs them faithfully no matter what. Her questions on these calls are relevant; her expertise is obvious when she helps to provide answers for other peoples' questions and she is the first person to step up and help those who lack her technical expertise.

This young lady is highly competent when it comes to WordPress blogs, flipping websites, product creation and affiliate marketing. She understands the nature and need when it comes to quality content; added value; and solving problems.

Let's call this go-getter Laurie. Some time ago I noticed that Miss Laurie was conspicuously absent from our regular call schedule. We all understand that life happens but when Laurie's voice was silent for so long, I began to consider that something might be awry.

As it happened, Laurie's father had fallen ill and passed away. This series of events may have tempted Laurie to stop working on all her internet projects but she knew her father would want her to pursue her dreams.

While working online one morning, Laurie discovered that an online guru she had long admired was making a fantastic offer. She contacted this marketer and volunteered to provide a bonus the guru could use. She was disappointed when her generous offer was immediately rejected.

Blogging and Big Brother?

Today's post begins with this disclaimer: Nobody paid me to write anything on any of my blogs. EVER. Period.

Everyone with a pc, cell phone, television or radio is acutely aware of the hoopla that has been discussed in the past few days about bloggers receiving money or products in exchange for their review of products.

Internet Marketing: Is it Mysterious?

Back in the day, Louise Hay, well known author, talked about her word processor and the issues it held for her. She referred to the machine as the 'Magic Lady' and when she finally surrendered to the fact that there was only one way to get the Magic Lady to work properly-The Magic Lady's way-she was successful at producing copy.

By now, Louise Hay, and the rest of us are surrendering to XP, Vista, Mac or what have you.

The key? Surrender.

In the wonderful world of internet marketing we must set our preconceived notions aside. We must learn how the technical side of the computer allows us to post blogs, send email campaigns or present webinars. Furthermore, we would do well to study our marketing techniques, all the while refining our efforts, streamlining our work days and getting the most bang for our bucks.

When I first learned about blogging I had great difficulty putting a prepared post into the template. I felt foolish when I asked on a conference call if anyone else had that same issue. It took a long, long time for me to GET that Microsoft Word does not work or play well with internet templates. Silly me. I had a preconceived notion about how to do a thing but I was completely wrong. As soon as I surrendered, the mystery solved itself!

Whatever we believe will drive us to act whatever way we do. If we believe we will fail, for example, that's precisely what we will do. Then we can play the Blame Game and point fingers at parents, old bosses, anyone we begrudge and whoever stands close enough for us to see!

If we THINK we can or if we THINK we can't--either way, we are 100% correct.

What do you believe? What do you tell yourself as you sit at your computer, creating squeeze pages and one time offers? If you live your life-business and personal-moment by moment in truth and love you may be amazed at how much smoother your business flows.

Work at Home?

If you are a home body, a mom, or house husband the chances are good you are earning a living by working at home. Or you may work FROM home. Either which way, you are one of a growing number of entrepreneurs who chose to lay off your boss.

Under some circumstances it would be very easy to feel isolated while working at home. If those around you are three and five years old there won't be an abundance of adult conversation. When a spouse goes to work and the house is quiet enough to accomplish many things but there is now no "adult supervision" you may become distracted by television, the view outdoors, or what is calling your name from the refrigerator.

One of the things that can serve you well in this kind of work environment is habit.
There is a lot of power in habit; that power can enable you in your work or it can hamper your efforts. It all depends on how you apply it.

Habit works with the precision of a machine. Your behaviors program your habits and your behavior reinforces the programming. You can use this to your advantage or you can allow it to bring you down. The choice is entirely up to you.

Here are some of the habits you might like to consider programming and reinforcing to help you boost your bottom line:

Create a daily task list and prioritize your items. This will assist you in minimizing distractions and help you to remain focused on your goals.
Reward yourself for accomplishments. An example of that might be to finish a blog post, then read for pleasure for half an hour. Or if you post an article or press release, you have earned a cookies n milk break. Set up your rewards to suit the task involved and your personal preferences.
You may want to consider hiring child care for a certain block of time so you are not interrupted with the needs of others. For instance if your children nap during the afternoon, you may want to have help during the morning so you'd have assistance with lunch. Design your days for maximum productivity.
Sitting to make phone calls or work on the computer for long periods will require that you physically move your body from time to time. Set a timer, if necessary, and take a moment or two between tasks to stretch your muscles. In case you do not have an exercise program in place, you would be wise to begin at once.
If it falls to you to perform household tasks, plan your day around those. Don't fall into the trap of getting caught up in laundry, dishes, sweeping and bed making and forfeit time that could be used in your marketing efforts. One resource I'd like to share with you in that regard is a website that is loaded with ideas for organizing tasks: FlyLady is one of my best friends and with good reason! Be sure to visit her but be warned that it is a very large website and you could spend too much time looking at all that's offered there. Set your timer and return to your tasks when it rings!
Be very clear about what you WANT and what you DO NOT WANT. If you do not want interruptions in your day, then set your boundaries and make sure they are not trespassed. Post your "Office Hours." If you want to network with people, meet them for breakfast or coffee throughout the workday. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to create the kind of work environment you like best.

Working From Home?

If you are working from home, the chances are good your "uniform" is jeans and a tee shirt or something close to that. You probably wouldn't really think about donning a MINER'S HAT, would you?

Well, on second thought, if you knew how to 'MINE your own business' for golden nuggets of success, you might reconsider that miner's hat. It has a light on it, after all.

'Mining your own business' is a play on words that Dixie Brown teaches her students in order for them to learn about product creation and internet marketing. She maintains that if you begin modestly and grow your business incrementally as you refine your internet marketing skills and business acumen you can achieve the kind of success you'd like to have.

She emphasizes having a written, step-by-step plan that is executed consistently and with purpose and passion. She makes it clearly understood that no one has to be a "one man gang" and perform every element of the process alone. Some of the work can be outsourced, such as graphics or copy-writing or recording. Think everything through carefully. Remember that content is key and people want and deserve VALUE.

Part of mining your business is cultivating relationships. Giving your customers the best content you can possibly give them will cement those relationships.

After you have developed your plan and made your commitment to yourself to see your project through, then you need to make up a TASK list. As you move through your list of tasks you will see that your project will be finished when the last item is checked!

Then it is time to rinse, wash, and repeat the process with the next product, program or idea. Keep moving forward by consistently taking action.

The JOB of any internet marketer is to solve peoples' problems. We need to create easy, affordable, lucrative ways to help people do whatever they do.

Going about problem solving can be done in a variety of ways. We can go to forums to see what folks are talking about. We can read blogs to see how other people offer their help. We can sign up for email notifications and learn much about the ways other business people communicate.

We can invite our readers/visitors to chime in and offer their questions, their comments, their ideas and their suggestions. We can offer them surveys to take so we can "take the public pulse."

I know a blogger who ADORES greeting cards. So she offered them to her visitors. They may or may not have one thing to do with her website but there they are, for all the world to see and enjoy. And if you like, you may donate something for the use of the image she provides. That's a pretty cool way to help people. It may not be YOUR way, but it will spark ideas in your head and those ideas will reflect YOUR personality and goals.

There is an international speaking and leadership club called Toastmasters, International. Their program helps men and women all over the world to learn to communicate better. They learn step-by-step how to speak more eloquently, more professionally, and without nervousness. AT THE SAME TIME, they learn how to take responsibility and ACTION to accomplish their speaking/leadership goals as well as the goals of their club, area, district, and region.

It's exactly the same for internet marketers! Every single action we take helps us build for the next set of actions, products, and programs!

Internet Marketing: Do You Have the "GUTS"?

Jeff Herring said this: "EVERYTHING in your life is an article." My own interpretation of Jeff's statement is that 'everything is a blog post.'

If you ever stared at a white screen with a blinking cursor-and I do not mean 'blinking' in the bleeped sense of the word; the cursor actually does blink-you understand that there may be times in your blogging life that you are unsure what to write.

Here is the problem that can create: You may hit a wall with respect to not knowing what to write about or you haven't thought up an angle with which to approach a certain topic. So you scrap blogging for that day. You play golf. You piddle with your emails. You go out for lunch. Pretty soon you get out of kilter with that blog and when you look again SIX MONTHS have passed. No wonder your list is dwindling; you have not even written anything for an email campaign!

Jeff Herring suggests that playing golf, emails, a lunch out CAN BECOME MATERIAL for you to use in a variety of ways.

Let's say, for example, that you have a wonderful luncheon meeting in a cafe you seldom frequent and you have a delightful encounter with your server or you have a chance meeting with someone who is interested in your latest project. YOU CAN WRITE ABOUT THOSE THINGS. Furthermore, you can RE-PURPOSE every account. These events can translate from blog to article to press release to e-book to audio/video...do you see where I'm going here? I am taking you down a pretty productive path.

If you consistently take action-which is advice from JEFF WELLMAN AND HIS PARTNERS-using your life as a template for your product creation and blog or write or email or whatever your choice is EVERY DAY AND EVERY DAY AND EVERY DAY, you WILL reach your internet marketing goals!

Internet Marketing: Working From Home?

Working from home has pros and cons just as does working in an office in the heart of a city.

Take yesterday, for example. The "To Do" list was longer than a yardstick. Never mind the blog posts and the auto responder messages. Forget the phone calls, laundry, cooking, housekeeping and grocery shopping. Don't even mention the visitors who came to the door, knowing full well I am working but just wanted to stop for coffee! There was the little matter of the messed up blog site that consumed me and a committee until, thankfully, it was resolved right after bedtime.

As internet marketers and entrepreneurs, these are the things we must take in stride. The key in all of it is not to become stressed, discouraged, or overwhelmed.

It is far more important to have stamina for the task at hand, call in the troops to help when you get into hot water and learn to manage your time. Frankly, when you work at home and you see dust bunnies, you must learn to look away or get help with that issue.

I remember when one of my massage clients once asked me, "Do you have a girl?" Presuming she meant my daughter, I replied in the affirmative. She said, "Getting a girl-a good girl-was the smartest thing I ever did for my dress shop business. If I had to go home and clean house, I could not sell dresses." Bobbi understood the value of delegating and by hiring someone, she could focus on selling dresses, not housekeeping.

Maybe your way of delegating is to outsource some of your technical work. Perhaps you need to find someone who will cheerfully write your blog posts if you pay them in greenbacks. It could be you need a nerd god to tweak your computer from time to time. Whatever your issue, get help with it.

Working at home can mean that you feel isolated from time to time. The best way to counteract that issue is to plan your day so you meet someone for lunch occasionally or take a break by walking with a partner. You might think of scheduling times when you meet other work-at-home folks so you can talk "shop" and compare notes with those in similar circumstances. It's all about time management and priorities.

Conference calls are an efficient and cost effective way to connect with others, learn as you go, and keep your business up to date. Does your network include those who can provide ample content with answers to your burning internet questions? Internet Marketing: How's Business Going for YOU?

Whenever there is a gathering of people one question internet marketers and storefront owners are asked is, "So, how's business?" And most people either make a perfunctory statement: "OK, I guess" or they tell an outright lie and say, "OH! It's great!" I think their noses grow as they speak.

I know that there are men and women who are raking in more cash than they can count. I also know there are a few-maybe more-who are whining about this problem or that one and not making much, if any, money at all.

What is the difference?

Some people complain there isn't enough TIME. Hey-everyone gets 24 hours every single day. It might be prudent to learn how to manage it more profitably.

Other people will tell you, if you stand still long enough to listen, that their coaching program is impersonal or incomplete or their coaches are inaccessible.
If that's an issue, I'd suggest you make other arrangements ASAP. If you need info about that, I can give you names and phone numbers! grin

It was a commitment of time but I am fiercely determined to learn all I can learn as fast as I can learn it so I can share with you some of the lessons I am absorbing. I had a sort of epiphany as I heard ideas, suggestions, recommendations and looked at screen shots and images to reinforce my learning process. After making 16 pages of notes I perused them and became SO EXCITED about how limitless the possibility of my internet marketing life really is that I was sure my head would burst!

When it comes to Press Releases, for example, I have done a few lately that have rattled some cages and brought some attention and traffic to places I hoped would have a light shining there. I recommended to a friend that she write a press release...IN THE HOUR AFTER SHE POSTED THE THING SHE HAD 118 hits!

Here's the thing: if you follow your passion and do what the coaches ask of you and consistently take that action PLUS introduce new strategies and ideas as you progress you cannot help but realize that YOUR business is burgeoning.

There are programs that promise to reveal secrets to make you money. GET REAL. The "secret" if there were one is that the harder you work, the luckier you get.

Internet Marketing: Do Mastermind Groups Work?

Steve Jobs said, "Things don't have to change the world to be important."

It was fortuitous that I presented myself for a coaching program when and where I did because part of the program required me to participate in a Mastermind group. I was assigned to a collection of men and women from all over the world.

As you can imagine, the men dropped off first. Then one woman, and another...now we have a collection of internet marketers who have bonded and become fast friends. Only 3 of us have ever met face to face; the rest of our numbers are just friendly voices on the phone and email addresses!

Last night's Mastermind conference call was so phenomenal and so filled with information that it was decided to summarize it and send it to those who were absent. Life happens, you know-people go on vacation, have ailing relatives, get laid up themselves and we all can't be present for every call. We don't want to miss a single thing; we remind me of mothers who want their children home in time for supper!

Each member of this group is working in a different area. Some are bloggers, some have non-profit ventures. Some work on offline projects as well as online activities. Some of us are working full time jobs in addition to our online activities. Everyone is incredibly generous with their time, talents and resources. We share information if we find a Golden Gem somewhere. We cheer one anothers' accomplishments and mourn with others if they struggle.

Each of us has accountability partners, to whom we report our activities and progress. We are nudged to reach a little higher, think outside the box in different, better ways and we connect when an idea or question pops up for consideration.

Some online entrepreneurs may not need this kind of support. For me, it is life giving and nourishing the way nothing else is. Our little sisterhood may not change the world, but it has colored MY world and it is critically important to me in my internet marketing journey.

Mark Victor Hansen's Advice

If you can read and you have a home based business the chances are very good you are familiar with what Mark Victor Hansen has written in his Chicken Soup for the Soul series. If you were wise, you followed his good advice.

Of particular interest to me is something he wrote about expanding our imaginations. I suppose the reason it appealed to me is that I rather fancy FUN. If you know me well, you know that I will not be bothered to spend my time and energy on anything that is not full blown FUN.

Is it the little kid in me? Maybe. But Mark Victor Hansen advises us to remember the magic of our youth. Do you remember spending time daydreaming, lying on your back to study the patterns of the clouds? Do you recall running until you were breathless just for the joy of moving? Can you think back to times when you shrieked with pure delight and laughed until you hurt?

We have oodles of brain cells when we are born that just wait for us to give them direction. We are born rich, whether we acknowledge that or don't, and yet we get programmed by family, teachers, preachers, maybe even the conversations inside our own heads that we are this, that or the other and we suppose we are not good enough or not deserving enough...the list goes on and on.

Mark Victor Hansen advises us to "Predetermine the objectives you want to accomplish. Think big, act big and set out to accomplish big results."

We must focus on whatever we wish to have, be or do.

As internet marketers we must stop tagging after every scheme that comes down the pike, we must quit running from one coaching program to the next and signing up for every offer that comes into our inboxes. Find your niche. Do your due diligence. Be patient with yourself and the process. Celebrate your victories. Gather like minded people around you and form Mastermind Groups. And do remember to have fun with all of it.

Don't be attached to the outcome; follow your passion and learn as you go. Do be creative with your approach to your home based business and let your passion dictate the direction you take your internet marketing business. Solve other peoples' problems. Give them more than they expect. Nurture all your relationships. Cultivate creativity in every area of your life. An for goodness' sake, HAVE SOME FUN with your work!

All righty, then. I think I'll go jump on the trampoline now that the kids are back in school.

Making Money Online: Content is King

Making money online as an online marketer, using affiliate marketing strategies or email campaigns; or providing services and goods to your target market is an art and a science.

Whether you are full time or part time in your efforts to maintain a work-at-home enterprise it's critical to keep in mind that CONTENT IS KING. If it's a blog post you are creating, it needs to contain material that is helpful and useful to your reader or they are GONE. When you are preparing a Webinar, make sure you have covered every key point thoroughly so the attendees' time will be well spent. Email campaigns will be much more effective when you take the time to prepare and edit your message, taking care to make it relevant to your list.

Here is a horrible example of a message where content was NOT king: My inbox recently filled up with "urgent" offers I could not live without. I make every effort to keep an open mind, so I clicked on the first one, not sure what to expect. This is what I found:

" Dear (NameFix!)
and
the message
was
BLANK!"

This was not what that marketer had in mind, I'm sure. It is very easy to TEST those outgoing messages. This fellow was so eager to enter my email inbox that he neglected that one very important detail: Send yourself a TEST message.

Another problem that crops up when making money online is that spelling or grammar are not good in the messages or presentations that leave your autoresponder. While that can be endearing in some cases, it also comes across as unprofessional so making every effort to write and proof read with care is a good idea.

It's enervating to readers to be constantly bombarded with sales pitches of every stripe and description. Let your target audience know what you have to offer. Then, graciously allow them to buy. Or not.

As an internet marketer it is not your job to hound and harass. It is your job to enlighten and enable. When your CONTENT IS KING, you can accomplish this task with ease and integrity.

As far as internet marketing goes, email campaigns must surely be effective; otherwise they would not continue to swell our Inboxes. Email marketing can grow your business, depending how you create, manage and optimize your plan. It's all about planning a strategy and taking action to work your plan.

Whenever you create an email marketing campaign, you need to understand it's not like emailing your college buddies or all your relatives. It's not as simple or thoughtless as just hitting "Forward" and getting a message out to everyone who uses the internet and has an email account!

Email marketing campaigns take thought and care. It's important to offer great content and give your reader a reason to take the action you desire. This does not happen willy-nilly.

I struggled mightily with an email broadcast recently. It's my position that every email I send need not be a sales pitch. I want to establish and maintain a relationship with the people on my lists, not simply promote products to them. So I spent some effort creating the just the exact message I wanted to convey. Of course, I wanted to TEST it before it went to the masses.

Not being the most technically gifted internet marketer on the planet I managed, without even knowing it, to LOSE my entire broadcast message!

What may have been disastrous at the most and an annoying inconvenience at the least had a happy ending because AWeber has plenty of online assistance. Here is a laundry list of questions you might consider when it comes to acquiring and using Private Label Rights products:

How To Make Money From Home: Is It Possible?

Have you looked at the offers that pour into your Inbox? Have all your friends put you on their lists to see their Next Big Promotion? Do you ever feel so overwhelmed about working at home with the doorbell and the kids and the neighbor's barking dog to distract you that you consider finding a J-O-B?

Just as the song lyrics remind us, nobody promised us a rose garden. Nobody said it would be easy-or, if they did, they lied-but it can be simplified.

To begin with, it's important to create a PLAN and follow through with the plan you create.

When you work at home it's altogether too easy to take a break and throw a ball around with the kids. Pretty soon you've spent half an hour and it slips by so fast it's incredible. Or, the doorbell rings and you step outside to chat with the neighbor who is watering the flowers. Then you feel as if it's time for a sit-down break and you go to the kitchen for coffee, where the newspaper catches your eye. All these distractions can be a form of procrastination. Even cleaning and organizing your work area can be procrastination in its highest art form.

When you write down a list of tasks to accomplish in your workday, the end results depend on your doing everything on your list. SIDEBAR: Be realistic and pragmatic when you make your To Do list. Don't make the list longer than your arm. END SIDEBAR.

When your intention is to work to make money at home it's critical to work smart. That might mean signing up with a respectable coaching program and working with a coach to teach you whatever elements are missing in your online education. It could mean you partner with someone to create accountability for both of you.

When you work with an accountability partner, you are not likely to send a progress report listing "played ball with the kids for 30 minutes, then sat down for coffee and read the newspaper." There isn't much meat there about how you will create a stream of income, what steps you are taking to generate traffic for your blog, improving your search engine optimization or whatever you might be studying to increase your skills.

Whether you work in a factory, your money comes from a trust fund or you have a brick and mortar storefront, you NEED to take thoughtful, deliberate action to make any plan come to fruition. Multi level marketers must be out and about, talking to people. Salesmen had better be writing orders. Online marketers, working at home, had better be learning what they don't know yet and they had better be working diligently to create products, sell other peoples' stuff, or taking whatever steps are necessary to stay in the game of life.

Online marketers may create a home business startup as a part time venture or even as a hobby. In the case of the serious entrepreneur, however, making money from home must be structured for financial success or failure and disappointment may result.

Follow your bliss. Do your best work. Make a plan and stick to it. Be accountable.

Social Networking: Twitter? Facebook? MySpace?

Let's presume you have chosen which of the myriad social networking sites suits you and you have carefully and thoughtfully filled out their profile fields. Maybe you have even made some posts and have acquired a following of fans.

As an internet marketer, have you used the power of social networking to your advantage?

The way to make social networking advantageous in your business is to be generous. Give your social networking contacts something of value. Give of YOURSELF. Take the time to build healthy relationships.

For example, you aren't likely to enter a wedding reception and propose marriage to the first single person with whom you dance. It works the same way on social networking sites.

What is more insulting than to "follow" or "friend" someone whose website you admire and have them "follow back" or "friend" you with a SALES PITCH to buy their product? We do business with those we like and those we trust. If you haven't built a relationship you don't know who you can trust and you have not learned to like anyone BEFORE a relationship is established!

Before you write on someone's "wall" you must remember to be prudent, practical and cautious. Be your best self.

A good way to build relationships online-or offline-is to ask questions. What do people need help doing? How can you add value to their experience? Noted internet marketer, John DiLemme is a respected social networker and he advises people who want to be successful in the social networking arena to be generous and give away mountains of information. Help others to solve their problems. Find answers to the questions others have.

John DiLemme wants to see people build trust in their relationships. Isn't that what everybody deserves?

The number of friends or followers on a social networking site is important for your exposure. But it's even more important to understand WHO those people are, in terms of your niche market. It's just fine to comment to a parrot enthusiast but if your niche is targeted to boaters or sportswear shops, that may not mesh when at some point you advertise your newest Big Thing.

There is no need to blow your horn about your Big Project or Best Product every time you log in to your favorite site. The ratio should be about 80% to 20%. No need to frighten people away. We are all fearful of "being sold."

Are you new to social networking? If you peruse your Twitter stream or look at the pages of Facebook or any of the many sites that are available you will soon see how the process works.

One of my Twitter devotees has managed to develop a handsome income from her Twitter stream, simply because she has developed her followers' confidence and when she suggests something, they know they can trust her recommendation. IF they are in the market for the idea she puts forth, they feel comfortable to follow her lead.

The relationship she has with her "fan club" did not materialize overnight. She has consistently and regularly shown up to offer value, share helpful information, solve peoples' problems and prove that she deserves unfailing trust.

She got that trust the old fashioned way. She EARNED it.

Internet Marketing: Are You Up For the Challenge?

At lunchtime today we had a good laugh about my personal issues and challenges with the technical aspects of internet marketing.

I am blessed with a patient, understanding husband, tremendous and long suffering coaches and it is fortunate that we all seem to have a sense of humor about my ISSUES.

Silly me. I made the remark that my husband should understand. SIDEBAR: NEVER SHOULD ON HUSBANDS. END SIDEBAR.

I said, "Normal people might have given up and quit when things were bad, like they were for me."

His eyes twinkled and he grinned. He hesitated, not knowing if he should even broach the subject.

SIDEBAR: Husbands, broach sensitive subjects sensitively! END SIDEBAR

Finally, tentatively, he offered this comment: "Connie, NORMAL PEOPLE WOULD HAVE GOTTEN IT!"

Touche`... ...We shared a comical moment and had a great laugh...but we both remember how it was, back in the day when I cried a lot and was so discouraged.

I had been stuck. I was mired in the quicksand of not understanding how to do the simplest technical task. I'm still not too whippy but I am ENJOYING the journey!

If I had not had a coaching program staffed and run by "Saint" Jeff Wellman and "Saint" Dixie Brown, I'd really have been up a stump!

Press Release? Why Do I Need a Press Release?

In the offline world, press releases are commonly used to generate interest and excitement about a new grand opening, a public event and such like. When it comes to online strategies, press releases are equally important in generating traffic to your Next Big Thing.

To create a good press release, it's important to think ahead. You really cannot put out a press release announcing your Big Event on the afternoon of your Big Event. That would not be good timing.

So, as Stephen Covey suggests, we begin with the end in mind: What results are you jonesing for? What do you want to accomplish? Maybe you want to drive traffic to your website in order to convert Looky-Louies to customers. Maybe you want to show off the results you've had by using your Next Big Thing. Perhaps you would like to draw attention your affiliate link in order to make some sales.

Using the "5 Ws" of journalism you will create a press release, telling your audience Who, What, When, Where, and Why regarding your Next Big Thing. Here is a sample idea for you:

"Name of your town-Today's date-Let your first sentence tell your story.

Keep your paragraphs short, stating your Who, What, When, Where and Why. Be factual, not fluffy or flowery. Be wary of using too much hype. Never, ever do this: !!!!!!!!!! because if you do, your piece will lose all credibility and will not be used.

Make sure every word is correctly spelled and your grammar is flawless.

Wrap your press release up with a short statement about your company and offer contact information. "

Product Creation: Have YOU Got What it Takes?

Product creation and list building are two elements of online marketing that are closely linked. The money is in the list and products that solve problems will always be in demand.

When you have a list of recipients, it is important to keep the lines of communication open by contacting the people on your list occasionally. You don't want to ANNOY, you only want to enlighten them. Aweber makes personalizing your email message very easy. Simply choose the option from their drop-down menu that fits your text and use your customer's NAME. Keep your messages brief and to the point.

The chances are good that I am a typical email recipient in that I like to get messages about new ideas, new products and updates. I do NOT like to be bombarded with several emails a day, touting this urgent product purchase or that next big thing by every internet marketer on the planet. IF I am interested to buy your product, I will buy it. If not, cramming my Inbox won't change my tune!

When it comes to creating YOUR Next Big Thing, it's critical to identify your niche. You will be wise to research and perform your due diligence because it will be your job to identify the problems there are to solve and come up with appealing solutions for your customers.

If you are a newbie, you might be fearful of the unknown. Boy, can I relate with THAT! But whoever said, "Face the fear and walk through it" was right on. You will never achieve success as a product creator or online marketer-or even as a human being-unless you learn some new things along the way and experience the taste of fear.

If your ideas and plans do not get your juices flowing and make you want to eat, sleep and breathe all the details with a spirit of fun, then you would be well advised to scrap success and abandon a great life. In order to be truly successful in whatever way is meaningful to YOU, you need to have an intense passion, a tremendous desire to bring your ideas into fruition. You can't wish that away. You cannot outsource desire and passion. You MUST act from true passion and sincere, deep desire. I heard Zig Ziglar once. He said, "You gotta get your wanter to wantin'!"

Another important point about creating products is to consider the VALUE you are giving your people and not the COST. Make sure they understand the benefits there will be for them. And don't be afraid to be generous with the benefits. Dare to over deliver. Dare to give people much more than they pay for and then surprise them once in awhile with more. The goodwill you create will be invaluable and will endear your people to you, creating loyalty and repeat business in the future.

Product Launches: Can YOU Make an Irresistible Offer?

Product Launches should not be approached willy nilly. They must be carefully thought out and planned. Even "glitches" must be factored in.

One of the key elements of launching the next big thing is to take your good offer, improve it beyond a great offer and morph it into the irresistible offer no one can refuse!

I know a marketer who took his very first product to market-in three weeks!- and here is how he finished:

3 weeks to launch
6 figures in 30 days
10 THOUSAND subscribers
1 pink slip

Of course, that one pink slip was for his boss. He knew layoffs were coming his way so he dodged that bullet by presenting his boss with a bona fide pink slip! Can you even IMAGINE how good that must have felt?

SIDEBAR: He will come personally and make a video of YOU giving YOUR boss a pink slip if you like. I can put you in touch. END SIDEBAR.

How did he accomplish this? He was generous. He not only gave his customers value, he created PERCEIVED VALUE for them. He COMPELLED people to hit the "BUY NOW" button. He created a strong sense of urgency. He made sure these people were coming into his program WITHOUT RISK. He was so confident in his program that he knew for a fact he could make guarantees.

MUST HAVES:

Any product launched must have relevance. It has to solve a problem in a unique and appealing way.

The marketer must have credibility and integrity.

There must be true value and NO RISK WHATSOEVER to the customer.

There must be a strong and very real sense of urgency. Don't claim this price will change in 20 minutes when in reality you don't change anything for 3 months! Remember, your credibility and integrity are on the line here!

You must have your targeted market in your sites. That is, don't make attempts to sell ice cubes to Eskimos, even if it is packaged in foil wrap! You will do much better if you sell biking gear to bikers, clothing and jewelry to women and cookware to foodies.

Internet Money-Making Alert: Webinars?

Our family has made up words ever since anyone spoke. Webinar sounds like something my mother made up to use as a code word so adults would be in the know but the children would be without clues.

If you have not yet learned about Webinars, I am happy to inform you that these are seminars conducted on the world wide web. Cute, huh?

Webinars can be long or short, entertaining or dry, and it's an effective tool for internet marketers, affiliate marketing people, and the public who wish to add to their knowledge.

Webinars, at least in this household, are a comfy way to learn about internet marketing at convenient times. I am fortunate to be able to participate in at least one Webinar daily. It's pretty nice to finish the dinner dishes in time to take a bubble bath, get into my jammies and park myself at the computer desk with my beverage of choice nearby and settle in for some serious note taking.

SIDEBAR: I don't mean to give you more information than you need. I'm only emphasizing the point that Webinars are much more accessible than driving to a community college to hear someone drone in a classroom, for example. END SIDEBAR.

Come to think of it, people who offer Webinars might drone, too, but usually the people who are presenting this way think outside the box and make the information appealing.

Most of the Webinars it has been my good fortune to encounter open the lines for questions and answers at the end of the material. Sometimes there are some real gems that appear during this time.

I am reminded of a call earlier this week where the participants interacted in a lively discussion about classified ads versus pay-per-click and Twitter! That was the Webinar that finished in an hour but the call continued for another 90 minutes. The organizer's wife intervened or we may never have gone to bed that night! WE WERE LEARNING STUFF!

Talk about OVER DELIVERING; these marketer should hold a trophy for the Overdeliver Division of Internet Marketing Materials. I wonder who's in charge of that division?

Can Affiliate Marketing be de-mystified?

Every time I open my Inbox there is another message telling me how I can make giga-gajillions of dollars SIMPLY by signing up and sitting back, waiting for those ginormous checks to fill my bank account.

This defies even my own logic. But I think Affiliate Marketing can be a viable, honest way to earn a living online if you go about it properly.

The whole idea behind Affiliate Marketing is to "sell other peoples' stuff." But you can't just go about that willy nilly. You would be well advised to do your due diligence. The products you would market need to be in line with your niches, your own integrity and your own ethical code.

As a practical matter, if you have a niche and a list of people to whom you'd promote, you'd want to be sure those on your list would be likely to be interested in any promotion you'd support. If you have a website that offers waterless cookware, for example, you would not be likely to offer your list the opportunity to buy discounted pajamas or DVDs about hair care. Those don't "match" so it would be unappealing for the people in your circle of influence.

I know a famous marketer who found out the hard way-he lost people from his list-because the item he was promoting had a NAME that did not match the integrity people on his list expected from him. The product was a good one but the name of the product belied that fact. He was in the soup and he learned an expensive but valuable lesson.

Here's the deal: If you go to a movie and you want everyone you know to see this movie, you will recommend it to them without reservation. These are your friends and they like you, they trust you and they want to follow your recommendation so when they are ready to have a movie night, they are likely to see the movie you mentioned to them. It works the same way in internet marketing. If I have bought a program from an internet enterprise and I know, respect and like the people with whom I have had dealings, I am likely to trust them when they come to me with their Next Big Thing.

Conversely, if my trusted, likable peeps pop up with some cockamamie idea about a discounted cruise or some land scheme, I'd scratch my head and think, "HUH?"
But when they roll out the next product in their niche, I am going to be all over it like June bugs on a duck's back.

As a matter of fact, my peeps are coming out with their Next Big Thing. It's to be a wedding, after a fashion, with fanfare, celebration, and all manner of surprises for their faithful. It's all good, kids. You'd better be on the lookout.

Here is my best advice for you: If you want to be an Affiliate Marketer, find an affiliate marketing program who has a product that matches your passion and fits your personality. Create a lot of buzz around that product. Tweet about it, create a blog devoted to that and give your visitors CONTENT, CONTENT, CONTENT. Give them VALUE. Help the people on your lists in any way you can. They have issues; you can provide solutions!

Nothing happens in a vacuum. You must have desire, the belief to follow through on your desire; above all, you must decide to take action!

GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU WOULD-BE AFFILIATE MARKETERS! Remember, the harder you work at it, the luckier you will become!

Internet Marketing: IS YOUR KEY WORD 'Success'?

Can you put your internet marketing business on auto-pilot? Do you have the search engine optimization nailed down? Have you created your own product? Did you make arrangements for Joint Venture Partners and have they helped you create buzz about your Launch event?

It's important to be audacious about creating and maintaining an online presence. You need to educate yourself about the technical aspects, the nuts and bolts of doing commerce online and how to implement online marketing strategies.

As you know, I've been in the process of preparing for an impending "marriage." One successful existing online marketer will soon tie the knot, joining him to the group known by some as The Tremendous Trio. The result will be The Fresh Fab Four.

Jeff Wellman created Lay Off Your Boss 3 and he was joined by the Tech Queen herself, Dixie Brown. Those two were humming along when up popped Paul Counts who is renowned all over cyberspace for his incredible skills with search engine optimization. Friday evening was spent in preparation for the Big Event. There was a Question and Answer call conducted and I filled 5 pages with careful, detailed notes of the information I gleaned. The call was two hours in length.

The reason I mention this activity is because last week I was to participate in a conference call and it did not go as planned. I expected to be the moderator and each participant would offer input, suggestions and ideas to all the others. Well, as it turned out, our conference line was one of those where you could call in and LISTEN, NOT PARTICIPATE. It was NOT an interactive line!

If you have ever been a call listener and could not ask questions or have information clarified or repeated you can clearly relate to my frustration level! I understand that many marketers provide conference calls that are NOT interactive. Furthermore, the calls are time limited.

It is understandable that marketers and gurus alike are busy and may not have the luxury of time to hear an entire call. But how disappointed would YOU be if you had a burning question and the call ended before you had a chance to speak up? Worse, what if you were not ALLOWED to ask questions in a live call? Oh, dear...there goes your freedom of speech! Because of this one factor, your online dreams could slide right down the drain!

Maybe having access to a Q and A session once a week would make all the difference in your being prepared to do business online, in an work-at-home scenario. You don't need me to tell you that times are tough and you could create some income IF ONLY you had the tools and felt prepared to work from home in your own enterprise. We all seek success. We certainly deserve as much. Who was quoted as saying something about the harder we worked and the more prepared we are, the luckier we get>

Make your key word SUCCESS, be as prepared as your local Scout troop and put more income into your family's resources! What will it mean to them when you make that a reality?

Lay Off Your Boss and Wedding Plans?

Your mother probably told you, "If you have nothing good to say about someone, then be still." That stops gossip and rumors COLD in their tracks.

But rumors float and I have been on the receiving end of some really exciting stuff: I can confirm that there will INDEED be a marriage between two extremely successful internet marketers.

I'm of the opinion that this will be a marriage made in Heaven.

What's in it for you and me? BENEFITS, people, BENEFITS. More support, more training, more answers, more ideas, more guidance, more leadership and best of all you can understand how to have more income!

If you have been working from home with less than stellar results; if you have yearned for your own venture where you can work from home; if you have struggled with the technical aspects of your quest for success this marriage will help you in many ways.

How to Make Money Online: Are You Getting the Support You Need?

If you have ever been stumped to understand the technical aspects of internet marketing in setting up your online business, you can readily understand how critical it is to have access to a support desk!

Have you ever wondered about the details of affiliate marketing but the only people you knew to talk with about it were others who were equally mystified? I've had a flurry of emails flooding my Inbox today...seems folks are buzzing and Tweeting and chatting about the impending "arranged marriage" between the good people from Lay Off Your Boss 3 and...well, now THAT IS THE MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION, is it not?

As a matter of fact, I do know who the "groom" is but if I told you I'd have to tie you up and plug up your pie hole to keep you from telling others.

How Many Internet Strategies ARE There?

When it comes to online marketing there is a PLETHORA of information, dis-information and mis-information. Now, please don't misunderstand me; I don't for a moment believe that internet marketers get out of bed thinking, "Today I am going to send something to all the people on my list and it is going to drive them nuts because I will withhold everything they need or want!" Nor do I think there is a vast conspiracy to sabotage the efforts of those of us who are beginning to build internet marketing empires.

I do think some promoters fancy we know things we have never heard of. I also believe they may forget how it was to begin any successful venture, not having certain technical skills or not understanding various aspects of internet marketing. The devil's in the details.

As I Twittered and handled my email messages this morning, I was delighted to find some resources others may find helpful. Here is one such item:

Another thing that came to me: I subscribe to a newsletter called "Early To Rise" and the people who put that together must get up in the middle of the night to get out all the content that appears there on a regular basis. Online Marketing vs Yard Sales

Online marketers can bring another stream of income by using good techniques. One marketer who keeps my Inbox full announced over the weekend that he created a ginormous 6 figure income by doing what he does. People who conduct Yard Sales declare they can boost their bottom line from time to time by editing their belongings and offering them to neighborhood shoppers at bargain basement prices.

Take your pick. I have been up to my eyeballs in a home based business by working online lately. This past weekend found me up to my ears in a Yard Sale. HANDS DOWN, online marketing wins.

The only thing that saved my sanity was the PEOPLE. I am solar driven and fueled by people, so that was the best part of the whole affair. I learned interesting things about my community and acquaintances' family ties; I discovered that someone is interested to join our Book Lovers Club. But deciding on pricing, setting up heavy tables, lugging boxes of "stuff" and being on the spot for hours on end is not my cup of tea.

Internet marketing, on the other hand, gives me unprecedented freedom. The income is not 6 figures at this point but I have not ruled out the possibility that six figures could happen when I have learned my lessons and am properly prepared.

When you conduct a Yard Sale, people take home the things they purchase. They may re-purpose the items, re-sell them, or use them within their household. Have you ever wondered what happens to an internet marketing enterprise? What happens to it when the networker goes to his Great Reward in Cyberspace?

It has been suggested that an attorney be invited to the table to discuss this very matter. You owe it to those you love to make sure all your accounts can be accessed and that any monies owed you for affiliate programs, PayPal accounts and such like be directed to the proper parties.

Did you know there is an internet TOOL that stores your online passwords? I was tickled to learn that such a thing exists: RoboForm is a secure service that keeps everything recorded for you. That's a marketer's dream come true!

Just like a doctor might advise, "Get your affairs in order." Your "stuff" might be arranged at a Yard Sale, but that is no plan for an online business!

Want to Lay Off YOUR Boss? Make it a JOINT VENTURE!

Let's suppose you have been working a full time job and it wasn't a good fit. Maybe it is too long a commute, the hours might be inflexible, or your skill set is more than what you are using in your 'day job.' Maybe there are whisperings about downsizing or closing altogether. In any case, you have been working on the weekends and late into the night to create your own online business. You have a product and he time is ripe for you to launch your baby enterprise. Hardly anything is as exciting as a new product launch!

NOW WHAT?

Now has come the time for you to engage Joint Venture partners. These are people who have people to come visit your website and become your customers. But you must do your homework!

The first order of business is to find marketers whose program will complement your own. If you are selling birdhouses and you know of someone with a list of names who is selling pajamas, this might not work so well. If you are selling organic foods and you discover someone who sells cookware, voila`! You have a match.

These online marketers and prospective Joint Venture partners can be found by looking in search engines, social networking sites, and from your own Inbox. Surely you have subscribed to sites and have internet marketers sending you their offers on a daily basis.

When you learn where these prospective Joint Venture partners are, you need to establish a relationship with them. Find out everything you can about them. Establish who they are, where they are, what they are about, what their products and services are and figure out how to help them solve their problems. You may see that they need your skills to help in their delivery of support services. Could you create tutorial videos on your own time and at your own expense that your prospective partner could use, give away, or benefit from in some way? You might even be able to help people with graphics for their websites. Perhaps they need a copy writer or proof reader. Do you have some Private Label Rights products to offer? Be generous in helping people.

Become someone a prospective Joint Venture partner KNOWS, LIKES, and TRUSTS. You must have impeccable credibility and integrity.

You may be invited to BE a Joint Venture partner for someone else's launch. If so, be sure the product going out complements your own. If you sell bird watching products, you may not do much for the ski equipment crowd. Also, be generous in providing help for another launch. Send the person a physical copy of an ebook you have created or put your ebook onto a CD. This will be good for everyone and create a win-win situation for both the JV Partner and the Launcher. Come to think of it, the PEOPLE will also be winners, so it's really a win-win-win proposition!

Do not be concerned about COMPETITION because we all are interdependent and need one another. Think instead about becoming ALLIES. It's much more cooperative and less fraught with negativity.

Joint Venture partners will want to know what benefits there would be for becoming your JV partner. It might be as simple as a banner exchange for one another's websites; it is likely they will want a piece of the profit pie. And for helping you they deserve it.

As members of Toastmasters, International, a speech making and leadership club, we are admonished that to be good public speakers, it is imperative to be prepared. If we are to craft successful speeches we need to research our topic, create a good opening, a body with good content and the closing needs to have punch.

The goal of creating a great online business is not so different from what good Toastmasters do. To become an online marketer it is important to research your niche to see what problems you might solve. You will need a good sales page, you must provide excellent content and the whole point is to coax your prospect to become your customer.

There are a great many details to manage when creating websites, blogs, sales pages and follow up messages. It can be daunting to the novice. It becomes second nature to the people who devote themselves to learning and taking action.

Toastmaster members know that club meetings do not happen in a vacuum. There is a Toastmaster to conduct the meeting and he has helpers assigned to make the meeting complete and to give everyone a chance to participate and to be heard.

Online marketers have the same opportunities for conducting cyber business. They may run their websites alone but they do not do it by themselves. They, too, have access to helpers. There are programs and webinars, tutorials and live events to help people who choose to work from home to learn to make online marketing, affiliate marketing and web mastering work to become second nature.
